SAMURAI MACHO FIELD NOTES / 06
Soft noodles.
Heavenly pork.
One big smile.
Ramen Jiro Kameido — a March 2026 bowl of wonderfully soft deromen and tender kami-buta, through our contributor’s photographs and tasting notes.

THE FIRST-HAND TAKE
“Kameido Jiro’s draw is its deromen: noodles cooked softer than at other branches, melding beautifully with the soup. The pork is tender too, and each bite goes down so easily. You’ll be walking out with a huge smile.”
Translated from the contributor’s personal impressions. The branch comparison reflects their experience.
01 / THE JOY IS IN THE TEXTURE
Noodles that become one with the soup.
Softness is the point of this bowl. The contributor loves how the noodles settle into the soup, bringing the two together in every mouthful. The noodle-lift photo puts those thick, supple strands right at the center.
Deromen, with affection
Here, “deromen” celebrates a very soft noodle texture. The contributor found these softer than at other Jiro branches they had tried, with the soup and noodles beautifully in step.
Big pork, tender bite
Two generous pork slices dominate the photograph. Their tenderness is the detail that earns the contributor’s praise: kami-buta, or “heavenly pork.”
A smile at the door
The lasting impression is uncomplicated happiness. The contributor describes the bowl as going down easily and imagines leaving with a broad smile.

02 / TWO WORDS TO TAKE HOME
Deromen. Kami-buta.
Deromen · very soft noodles
An expressive ramen-fan term for thoroughly softened noodles. In this tasting note it is praise: soft, supple strands that mingle with the soup. It is a texture description, not the exact name of the purchased ticket.
Kami-buta · heavenly pork
Kami means “god”; buta means “pork” or “pig.” Together, the phrase enthusiastically praises the pork. It is the contributor’s verdict, not a formal menu grade.
Yawarakai · soft or tender
One useful adjective for both stars of this meal. “Buta ga yawarakai desu.” means “The pork is tender.” Use it to describe what you enjoyed.
The exact serving size, topping request and price were not recorded for this visit. The photographs show the bowl; they do not identify the ticket purchased.
