How to order ramen in Japan
Follow the shop’s queue, ticket and seating instructions, then use a short Japanese request.
Before entering
- Read the queue sign; do not join an unexplained line.
- Find the ticket machine or table-service instruction.
- Choose a complete bowl before toppings.
- Check cash/card symbols and collect change.
- Give staff the ticket when directed and wait to be seated.

When staff asks a question
Use the menu to point rather than guessing. For noodle firmness or toppings, choose only options the shop offers. Large portions and extra garlic are choices, not requirements.
