SHINJUKU × TSUKEMEN · CHECKED 1 NOVEMBER 2026

Shinjuku tsukemen: choose your side of the station.

Fuunji, Gonokami Seisakusho and Menya Musashi give you three different reasons to stop for dipping noodles. Start with the soup you want and the address that fits your day.

These are researched branch comparisons. Our tasting reports are labelled separately. The order below is a route comparison, not a scored ranking.

YOYOGI / SOUTH-SIDE APPROACH

Fuunji Shinjuku Honten

Choose chicken-and-seafood tsukemen. The original branch is at 2-14-3 Yoyogi and lists separate lunch and dinner sessions, so an afternoon arrival needs checking.

SENDAGAYA

Gonokami Seisakusho

Choose shrimp-led dipping noodles, with shrimp, shrimp-tomato and shrimp-miso menu choices. Set your map to 5-33-16 Sendagaya; the operator has other shops.

NISHI-SHINJUKU / WEST SIDE

Menya Musashi Shinjuku Sohonten

Choose Musashi’s main branch for its animal-and-fish double stock. The operator places it at 7-2-6 Nishi-Shinjuku and gives a four-minute walk from JR’s west exit.

Plan the Musashi main-branch visit →

Choose one stop before crossing the station.

If you are already near the west exit, check Musashi first. For the Yoyogi or Sendagaya side, compare Fuunji and Gonokami. This is an editorial route suggestion based on their addresses, not a live walking-time or queue forecast. Follow your map from the exit you actually use.

What to decide at the ticket machine

Tsukemen arrives as noodles and a separate dipping soup. Choose the soup, noodle portion and toppings before paying. Portion labels are shop-specific: do not assume “regular” is the same amount everywhere. Ask about soup-wari at the end if the shop offers it.

Leave enough time for the queue.

Opening hours do not tell you how long a line will take or whether a particular bowl is still available. If a train or appointment is fixed, decide when you would leave the queue before joining it. The station-area guide also includes soup-noodle alternatives.
